Tournament Rules -UK EASTER CUP

All age groups. 

  • The tournament format is 5v5 for U7-U8. 7v7 for the older age groups.
  • All matches are 10 minutes long with no half time. Timer will not be stopped.
  • Squad numbers must be a minimum of 5; maximum of 12 players
  • The game is officially played with 4 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper per team. Formations and positions are set by each team. All available squad players should be used in games. 

All matches played will operate with a point system: 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw

Format

  • When teams are tied on points after all group matches, goal difference (GD) will support the team to qualify.
  • If GD is tied, goals scored for will be counted in support of the team to qualify.
  • Each team must provide a size 3 football in respect of under 7, 8, 9 & 10 age groups
  • No restrictions on the number of players allowed in the penalty area.


Substitutions

  • Number of substitutions: unlimited
  • Timing of substitutions:  Substitutions can be made during a stoppage of play such as goalkick,freekick or restart.
  • How to make a substitution: The referee must be notified before a substitutions can be made.The player being substituted must leave the field before the new player can enter. 

 

Out of play

  • Pass -in/dribble in: the ball must be stationary on the touchline. All opponents must stand at least 2 yards from the touchline where the pass/dribble-in is to be taken from. A goal cannot be scored directly from a pass -in.
  • Kick-outs by the goalkeeper from the hands are prohibited. The goalkeeper may however put the ball on the ground and kick it out
  • Goal kick: A player of the defending team kicks the ball from any point within the penalty area. 
  • U7- U8 ONLY On every goal kick, opponents must retreat to their own half until the ball is in play. The defending team does not have to wait for the opposition to retreat and has the option to restart the game before, should they choose to. The ball is in play when it has been kicked. 
  • Pass backs are not allowed.
  • Kick-off must begin with a pass-back to a team player. This can be straight to the goalkeeper.
  • All freekicks are direct. With the exception of the pass back rule.
  • Penalties to be taken from a mark 8 yards from the goal line opposite the centre of the goal

 

Other

  • No offside rule.  
  • Headers are allowed 
  • Goalkeeper can handle anywhere in the penalty area. 
  • All players on field must be wearing shin pads
  • No step restrictions. 
  • No height restrictions. 
  • In some instances, a girls team or player may play against a boys team in the same competition. Girls teams will be given a one year dispensation advantage – ie. an u11 girls team may play an u10 boys team. Format must be appropriate for the youngest team. 
  • The referee decision is final in all circumstances and should be respected at all times.

 

Breaches of Code of Conduct

Kickoff Events reserve the right to determine appropriate action for breaches of these codes of conduct. This may include you / your team being asked to leave the tournament and being excluded from future events.
